Book Review: One Day In December by Josie Silver

It was actually one day in December that I was wandering through a bookstore. I already have a huge stack of books at home that I haven’t read yet, but I just really love being surrounded by books. So I often wander around bookstores or libraries to get that happy feeling. On this particular day, I saw a book called One Day In December by Josie Silver. How could I not buy it and read it in December!

One Day in December by Josie Silver

Laurie is on a bus one cold, wintery day in December when she looks out the window and sees... the man of her dreams. It's love at first sight. Their eyes lock and she knows he feels it too. It's pure magic, soul mates who are going to live happily ever after. But before either of them can move, the bus drives away. After a year of looking for his face in the crowd every time she goes out, Laurie has just about given up hope of ever seeing the man from the bus ever again. Until the night of their Christmas party when Laurie meets the man her best friend Sarah has been calling 'the one'. And as fate would have it... it's the man from the bus that night in December one year ago.

Did One Day in December Deliver All it Promised?

It did! This was the perfect cosy, winter love story to read going into the holiday period. It had everything, love, friendship, anguish, and heartbreak. One Day In December is an easy read that really pulls at your heartstrings. Laurie shows such loyalty to her best friend Sarah even when it comes at a cost to herself. The story follows Laurie, Sarah, and the man from the bus over a ten year period, full of ups and downs, laughter and tears. And just when you think Laurie has it all sorted out, fate comes along with other ideas.

I really loved Josie Silver’s writing style. She reminds me a lot of some of the JoJo Moyes books I've read, only I shed a few less tears! This is the first book I've read by Josie Silver, but I will definitely be looking for more. If you are looking for an easy read that has substance and is going to leave you with all the feels! Then I can highly recommend One Day In December, I gave it 5 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.

I finished One Day In December in December but have had a kinda slow reading start to 2019. Today I finished a book that a friend lent me called The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma. Keep an eye out for that review coming soon!

Cheers, Jess
